This study aims to develop an alcohol content detector based on Arduino Uno employing the MQ-3 gas sensor as the primary detector, specifically for the traditional Maluku beverage, Sopi. The MQ-3 sensor reads analog voltages, which are processed through Arduino IDE into digital values and displayed on an LCD as alcohol concentration (mg/L) along with safety level information. The system is also equipped with LED and buzzer indicators to enhance feedback. Calibration results indicate a linear relationship between the sensor’s ADC values and alcohol concentration, expressed by the regression equation Y = 0.3438X – 182.95, with a determination coefficient of R² = 0.9849, signifying a very strong correlation. Tests on several Sopi samples revealed that regular Sopi (Sample C) contains around 30% alcohol, while premium Sopi (Samples A and B) contains 50–70% alcohol. These results confirm that the developed system can accurately detect alcohol content, while being simple, portable, and well-suited for local community needs in Maluku.
