The present research investigates the mediational mechanism of job stress between job demands and burnout. The paper proposes an expansion to the job stress model by exploring the role of anchor virtues and anchor materials as a moderator. Data from 324 Indonesian employees were collected. Moderated-mediation analyses were employed using the PROCESS macro for SPSS. The hypothesis testing results indicate that job stress functions as a full mediator in the relationship between job demands and burnout, which is moderated by anchor materials. However, anchor virtues are known not to moderate the mediation effect. Implications and future research suggestions are discussed.
