<![CDATA[Ecocriticism is an approach in literary studies that examines the relationship between literary works and the natural environment. This study aims to describe and analyze the representation of the sea and the relationship between the characters and the sea in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori, drawing on Cheryll Glotfelty’s ecocritical perspective. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method utilizing “read-and-note” techniques. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal ten data points, comprising three instances of sea representation and seven instances illustrating the relationship between the characters and the sea. The representation of the sea is conveyed through dialogue or monologues mentioning the sea, as well as references to the sea during specific events. The relationship between the character’s direct interactions with the sea anda the sea’s role in framing their experiences. Thus, the study indicates that the sea is present not merely as a natural element but also plays a role in shaping the character’s experiences anda the human-nature relationshi[ within the novel.]]>
