<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the representation of social privilege in Eka Kurniawan’s novel O from the perspective of Georg Lukács’s theory of realism. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytic method. The data consisted of narrative excerpts, dialogues, and events that represented dominant–subordinate relations. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques and analyzed based on the concepts of social totality, class relations, class consciousness, and reification in Lukács’s thought. The findings reveal four forms of social privilege: social class, power, cultural, and anthropocentric privileges. These forms operate through control over labor and its products, coercive control over the body, symbolic domination, and the instrumentalization of nonhuman life based on its usefulness. The findings indicate that social privilege in O is not merely an individual advantage but is produced through structural relations within social totality. O’s subordinate position bears a structural analogy to the proletarian position in terms of exploitation, without equating O with the proletariat as a historical category in Lukács’s theory]]>
