<![CDATA[This study examines how United States sanctions against Venezuela during the 2019-2025 period function as a global energy security strategy to safeguard U.S. geopolitical interests. The study aims to analyze the relationship between sanctions policy, energy security, and geopolitical competition in U.S.-Venezuela relations. It employs a qualitative method with a case study approach based on secondary data collected from official documents, reports of international organizations, and scholarly journals. The analysis draws on the perspectives of Energy Geopolitics and Defensive Realism. The findings show that U.S. sanctions are directed not only toward regime change but also serve as a global energy security strategy to maintain energy security and geopolitical influence. Although the sanctions have reduced Venezuela's oil production capacity, the country continues to hold a strategic position because of its vast proven oil reserves and its cooperation with China and Russia.]]>
