This community service program was motivated by the varying levels of Qur’an reading ability among elementary school-age children in Sindangsari Hamlet, RT 003 RW 002, Toblongan Village, Bojongasih District, Tasikmalaya Regency. The program aimed to strengthen children’s Qur’anic literacy through Qur’an reading training and mentoring. A participatory training and mentoring approach was implemented over eight sessions in July 2026. The participants consisted of 20 children aged 7–12 years. The activities included initial assessment, reading training using Iqra and the Qur’an, direct mentoring through reading practice, correction and repetition, and final evaluation. The results showed positive changes in the participants’ Qur’an reading abilities. Before the program, 5 children (25%) were categorized as fluent readers, 10 children (50%) as moderate, and 5 children (25%) as struggling readers. Following the program, the number of fluent readers increased to 10 children (50%), while 8 children (40%) were categorized as moderate and only 2 children (10%) remained in the struggling category. Thus, the fluent category increased by 25 percentage points, while the struggling category decreased by 15 percentage points. These findings indicate that training combined with direct mentoring, guided practice, correction, and repeated reading can serve as a relevant approach to strengthening Qur’anic literacy among elementary school-age children in the community.
