<![CDATA[The progress or decline of a nation is determined by the strength and quality of its character. A nation with good and strong character demonstrates the honor and dignity of its people. This article employs a library research approach with qualitative descriptive analysis of social phenomena by referring to texts, theories, or expert opinions. The analysis results show that good and strong character is a fundamental factor determining the existence, progress, and sustainability of a nation. When this nation finds its true identity, it can be free and sovereign. However, during a moral crisis and weak national character, social facts show that this nation is far from the goals of independence. The strategic alternative for Indonesia to realize the goals of independence is to strengthen character and cultural nationalism. From an Islamic perspective, noble character (akhlak) is the primary goal of the prophetic mission, as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad SAW who was sent to perfect noble morals. The six pillars of character according to Josephson - trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship - serve as the foundation for national character development.]]>
