Bronchopneumonia is one of the respiratory infections commonly experienced by children and can cause increased airway secretions, coughing, ineffective airway clearance, and decreased comfort during hospitalization. In addition to medical therapy, safe and practical supportive nursing interventions are needed to help reduce respiratory symptoms in children. This study aimed to implement complementary therapy using warm water with a honey mixture in children with bronchopneumonia in the Pediatric Ward of RSU Prof. M. Yamin in 2025. This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach involving 12 children diagnosed with bronchopneumonia who were hospitalized in the Pediatric Ward of RSU Prof. M. Yamin. The intervention consisted of administering warm water with a honey mixture as a complementary therapy within the nursing care process. Data were collected through direct observation of respiratory conditions before and after the intervention, including coughing frequency, secretion clearance, child comfort, and sleep quality. Data were analyzed descriptively based on changes in the children's conditions after the intervention. The results showed positive changes after the implementation of complementary therapy. Before the intervention, all children (100%) experienced frequent coughing, while after the intervention, 9 children (75%) experienced a reduction in coughing frequency. The ability to expel respiratory secretions improved from 2 children (16.7%) before the intervention to 10 children (83.3%) after the intervention. Improvements were also observed in children’s comfort levels and sleep quality. The implementation of warm water with honey mixture as a complementary therapy may serve as a supportive nursing intervention to help reduce respiratory complaints and improve comfort among children with bronchopneumonia. This therapy should be used as a complementary approach alongside standard medical treatment and requires further research with stronger study designs.
