<![CDATA[This Community Service (PKm) activity aimed to improve short story writing skills based on local content among students at SMP Negeri 1 Pekanbaru through the In House Training (IHT) model, followed by class implementation and mentoring. The activity was conducted on August 3, 2026, involving 32 eighth-grade students as participants. The implementation method consisted of three stages: (1) training through IHT, including material presentation, demonstration, and workshop; (2) class implementation involving the practice of writing short stories with Riau local content; and (3) intensive mentoring in the editing and refinement process. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed an improvement in students' short story writing skills from an average score of 66.8 in the pre-action to 81.9 in the post-training, with a classical completeness of 87.5%. Additionally, the questionnaire results indicated that 90.6% of students gave positive responses to the training activity. These results indicate that the IHT model combined with class implementation and mentoring is effective in improving local content-based short story writing skills and fostering students' appreciation of Riau's local cultural values.]]>
