The repeated use of istifhām in the opening three verses of Surah al-Qāri‘ah is often understood as literal questioning, although the structure performs rhetorical functions related to the portrayal of the Day of Judgment. Previous studies have generally examined istifhām in the Qur’an broadly or discussed the interpretive methodology of al-Kasysyāf, while the relationship between glorification and the dimension of warning in Surah al-Qāri‘ah verses 1–3 remains insufficiently explored. This study analyzes al-Zamakhsyari’s interpretation of istifhām in these verses and explains the dimension of tahdīd that emerges when his interpretation is examined within the textual context. The study employs a qualitative library research approach. Primary data were obtained from Tafsir al-Kasysyāf, while secondary data consisted of relevant books and scholarly articles. The data were collected through documentation and examined using descriptive-analytical content analysis. The findings demonstrate that al-Zamakhsyari interprets the interrogative structure as li al-ta‘ẓīm wa al-tafkhīm, emphasizing the magnitude and terrifying nature of the Day of Judgment. Contextual analysis further reveals a dimension of tahdīd manifested through epistemic, eschatological-cosmic, and socio-theological warnings. These findings broaden the understanding of Qur’anic interrogative rhetoric and clarify the relationship between rhetorical structure and eschatological warning
