The application of discipline related to current assignments is a problm that is often found in junior high schools. Studen often choose to postpone completing their assignments and obligations at school because they consider the assignments to be unimportant. This delay then causes the tasks being carried out to not be completed optimally and tends to hinder good behavior changes. This research was carried ut using an experimental method with an equivakent time series design, which was carried 60 respondents in class eight (VIII). Respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique, the instruments used were pretest questionnaires and posttest questionnaires as well as observation tables. Based on the research results, the level of bad study habits at MTSN 8 Muaro Jambi experienced differences in the level of study habits in a positive direction. This is shown from the results of observations with an average level of behavior change score of 14,055 and categorizes as good. The results of the pretest percentage increased by 4%, namely from 48% to 52% in the posttest questionnaire, and were confirmed by the results pf the T- test which revealed that self-management is quite effective in reducing bad study habits
