The purpose of this study was to describe the comparative figures of speech found in the short story collection Kabut di Teras Senja by Sutini. This study employed a descriptive qualitative research method. The object of the study was the short story collection Kabut di Teras Senja, which consists of twelve short stories. The data were collected through observation and note-taking techniques, while the data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. The findings revealed 85 instances of comparative figures of speech, comprising 22 personifications, 14 hyperboles, 14 metaphors, 16 dysphemisms, 7 symbolic expressions, and 12 litotes. The results indicate that personification is the most dominant type of figure of speech used in the short story collection. The author employs various comparative figures of speech to strengthen the portrayal of characters, settings, and conflicts, while also enhancing the aesthetic quality of the stories. Consequently, the messages conveyed to the readers become more vivid, expressive, and meaningful.
