This study examines the impact of online gaming addiction on the character development of elementary school students through a Systematic Literature Review guided by the PRISMA protocol. Twelve empirical journal articles published between 2017 and 2026 were identified, screened, assessed for eligibility, and included for thematic synthesis. This study's urgency is reinforced by national data: APJII reported that Indonesia's national internet penetration reached 81.72 percent in 2026, while 48 percent of Indonesia's internet users are minors, with average daily screen time of about eight hours. The findings show that online gaming addiction contributes to declining learning discipline, aggressive behavior, dishonesty, reduced social interaction, lower academic achievement, and physical and emotional health problems. Weak self-control, insufficient parental supervision, peer influence, and unrestricted device access emerged as the dominant contributing factors. Nevertheless, moderated use of online games was also found to strengthen teamwork, virtual communication, and foreign-language vocabulary acquisition. Coordinated efforts among families, schools, and students are therefore essential to minimize negative consequences while optimizing the benefits of online gaming for student development.
