<![CDATA[Dance education in vocational high schools, particularly in engineering programs, faces challenges due to students' limited artistic knowledge and the stereotype that dance is associated with females. This study aims to explore the phenomenon of Kiprah Glipang Dance learning in developing artistic insight and art appreciation among tenth-grade male engineering students at SMKN 2 Probolinggo. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed. The participants consisted of 12 male engineering students and one Cultural Arts teacher selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Moustakas’ phenomenological model. Trustworthiness was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The findings indicate that local culture-based Kiprah Glipang Dance instruction enhanced students’ artistic insight, art appreciation, self-confidence, active participation, and awareness of preserving local culture. These findings were supported by an increase in the average pretest score from 29 to 78 on the posttest. The novelty of this study lies in revealing the lived experiences of male engineering students in learning traditional dance within vocational education. The findings contribute to the development of local culture-based arts education and support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.]]>
