Heat pipe is a simple equipment which has a very high thermal conductivity. In a large capacity of heat pipes can transfer the heat efficiently in a wide variety of temperatures without additional energy. The experiment is used copper pipe with a length of 400 mm and diameter 9.525 mm using acetone as working fluid. Screen mesh wick was used by screen 150 mesh. The experimental method is carried out to obtain the characteristics of heat pipe in form of axial temperature distribution, thermal resistance and heat transfer coefficient with filling ratio 60% (of the evaporator volume) at different orientations. The lowest thermal resistance and the highest heat transfer coefficient was occurred in a vertical position at 4.30 °C/Watt and 195.50 W/m2°C respectively. From the three orientations of heat pipes, vertical position indicated the decrease due to temperature difference between evaporator and condensor and the smallest thermal resistance in all heat input.
