<![CDATA[This study examines the history and development of the Student Regiment (Menwa) in building state defense awareness among students at Hamzanwadi University from 2018 to 2023. The Student Regiment is a semi-military organization that functions as a reserve component of national defense and plays a strategic role in fostering nationalism and patriotism among university students. This research employs a qualitative approach using the historical method, encompassing four stages: heuristics (data collection), source criticism (verification), interpretation (data analysis), and historiography (writing). Data were obtained through interviews with key informants, including the founding commander, former unit commanders, and active members, as well as through document analysis of official archives. The findings reveal that the Student Regiment in East Lombok was established in 2018 through a formal decree appointing Abdul Basyir as the sub-commander. The organization has experienced significant development, marked by the establishment of three units across various universities. However, challenges in building state defense awareness are more internal, relating to students' personal motivation and ego. Despite these obstacles, the Student Regiment has made substantial contributions to the university through security services at campus events and athletic achievements, including provincial-level shooting competition victories. The research contributes to understanding how semi-military student organizations can effectively foster nationalism and state defense consciousness in higher education institutions.]]>
