<![CDATA[In Arabic, the jussive mood is often viewed merely as a phenomenon of iʿrāb (phonological inflection) or as a technical rule of Arabic grammar (naḥw). Therefore, the jussive mood needs to be examined from a typological perspective in order to reveal its status as a grammatical category within the Arabic language system as a whole. This study aims to describe the concept of the jussive mood in Arabic from a language typology perspective. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach with a library research orientation. The data consist of linguistic units containing the jussive mood, collected from classical and modern naḥw treatises, Arabic linguistics books, journal articles, and previous studies. Data were collected using observation and note-taking techniques, followed by matching and distributional analysis, and subsequently by typological analysis. The results show that the jussive in Arabic is a grammatical mood that marks indirect commands, prohibitions, conditions, and other modal meanings in present or future verbs. The jussive is realized through the mechanism of jazm, with its semantic functions reflected in the use of specific particles. Its grammatical markers are realized through various forms that affect the verb morphologically. This study concludes that the jussive is an important grammatical category that highlights the distinctive nature of the Arabic mood system.]]>
