Human resources are a strategic asset in the culinary business because the operational success of a café largely depends on the quality of its employees’ performance. Non-standardized recruitment practices and low work motivation are presumed to contribute to the suboptimal performance of employees at Cafe Anomali Lubuk Begalung Padang. This study aimed to analyze the partial and simultaneous effects of recruitment and work motivation on employee performance at Cafe Anomali Lubuk Begalung Padang. The study employed a quantitative approach with an associative design and a total sampling technique involving all café employees as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS by conducting classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, a t-test, and an F-test. The results of the classical assumption tests showed that the data met the analytical requirements. Partially, recruitment (p = .692 > .05) and work motivation (p = .338 > .05) had no significant effect on employee performance. Simultaneously, recruitment and work motivation also had no significant effect on employee performance (p = .462 > .05). This study concludes that variations in employee performance at Cafe Anomali Lubuk Begalung Padang cannot be significantly explained by recruitment and work motivation in the model tested. These findings indicate the need to consider factors beyond the research model to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the determinants of employee performance.
