Romantic relationships among adolescents and young adults do not always develop in a healthy manner and may evolve into toxic relationships, often marked by the presence of red flags. However, many individuals tend to ignore these warning signs and remain in harmful relationships. Objective: This study aims to identify and synthesize the factors influencing the neglect of red flags in toxic relationships among adolescents and young adults. Method: This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with a qualitative descriptive approach following PRISMA guidelines. Articles were collected from Google Scholar within the 2016–2026 range and selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 10 analyzed articles. Results: The findings revealed four main factors, namely internal psychological factors, attachment and fear-related factors, communication and manipulation factors, and social and environmental factors. Psychological aspects such as low self-esteem and emotional dependency were identified as dominant contributors. Conclusion: The neglect of red flags is influenced by a complex interaction of internal and external factors. Therefore, enhancing relationship literacy and strengthening self-worth are essential to help individuals recognize and respond to unhealthy relationship patterns.
