Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and Social Influence on consumptive behavior in virtual economic transactions among Generation Z Roblox users. The rapid growth of the digital economy and increasing virtual transactions on the Roblox platform have encouraged consumptive behavior influenced by both psychological and social factors. This research employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of Generation Z Roblox users in Indonesia who had conducted virtual economic transactions, with 96 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 27, including validity, reliability, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The results indicate that Fear of Missing Out has a positive and significant partial effect on consumptive behavior (sig. < 0.001; regression coefficient 0.923). Social Influence also has a positive and significant partial effect (sig. 0.036; regression coefficient 0.177). Simultaneously, both variables have a positive and significant effect, with an F-value of 82.890 and R² of 0.641, meaning both variables explain 64.1% of the variance in consumptive behavior, while the remaining 35.9% is explained by other factors outside this study. Fear of Missing Out is identified as the most dominant factor influencing consumptive behavior among Generation Z Roblox users.
