This study examines the role of social media in enhancing the argumentative writing skills of Indonesian language students—a crucial literacy competency in higher education. A review of the literature reveals that argumentative writing poses a significant challenge for students, who often struggle to construct logical, evidence-based arguments. Social media—through platforms such as blogs, online discussion forums, and WhatsApp groups—offers opportunities to develop these writing skills. The literature review indicates that social media not only facilitates student collaboration but also accelerates the writing revision process through immediate feedback. Furthermore, the use of digital platforms in learning can improve students' digital literacy and foster critical thinking skills. This study aims to provide deeper insight into how social media can serve as an effective learning tool to enhance argumentative writing skills among students, particularly within the context of higher education in Indonesia. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more relevant and effective teaching methods for the digital era.
