Penerapan Coloring Art Therapy terhadap Activity Daily Living pada Orang dengan Gangguan Jiwa

Mental disorders can reduce Activity of Daily Living (ADL) abilities, thereby increasing dependency. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to improve ADL abilities is Coloring Art Therapy, which helps improve concentration, motivation, and motor coordination. Documenting the application of Coloring Art Therapy to improve Activity of Daily Living (ADL) in people with mental disorders at the Bagus Insani Mandiri Foundation in Palembang. This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach in six mental patients with decreased Activity of Daily Living (ADL) abilities. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation. The intervention was given for three days (June 20–22, 2026), then evaluated using the Katz Index to assess Activity of Daily Living abilities. After the application of Coloring Art Therapy, all patients showed an increase in ADL abilities after being given Coloring Art Therapy, marked by increased independence in bathing, brushing teeth, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, and carrying out daily activities according to ability. Coloring Art Therapy is expected to be implemented routinely in one of the ODGJ homes in Palembang City as a supporting therapy to improve the ability of Activity of Daily Living (ADL) and the independence of people with mental disorders.
