Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease / NAFLD) is one of the diseases often found in hepatology. Patients with NAFLD will experience elevated levels of Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT) and Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (SGPT) Serum, these events can be reduced by improving lipid profiles and liver damage due to free radicals. Papaya flowers contain flavonoids and tannins which is can inhibit fatty liver accumulation and reduce cholesterol. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of papaya flower extract on serum SGOT and SGPT levels in rats fed a high-fat diet. Method: This experimental design with true experiment, with a sample of 25 male Sprague dawley strains (Rattus norvegicus) which were divided into 5 groups, the control group was the group given the standard diet, the negative control group was only given a high-fat diet and treatment group 1 to treatment 3 was a group that was given a high-fat diet and papaya flower extract with different doses (31mg / 100grBB, 62mg / 100grBB, and 125mg / 100grBB). Results: The results of paired T-test and One Way ANOVA analysis showed a decrease in SGOT levels at doses of 32 and 64 m / 100 grBB and decreased SGPT levels at doses of 32 mg, 64 mg, and 125 mg / 100 grBB (p <0.05). Giving papaya flower extract can reduce SGOT and SGPT levels significantly (p <0.05). Conclution: The Conclusion from this study are that given carica papaya flower extract can lower SGOT and SGPT in the serum of rats.
