<![CDATA[Abstract This article discusses Nasaruddin Umar, who has made a significant contribution, particularly through his ideas on gender, and proposes gender as a method of contextual interpretation of the Qur'an in the Contemporary Era. Although researchers have widely studied gender, this article focuses more specifically on the urgency of gender as a method of contextual interpretation in Nasaruddin Umar's approach to Qur'anic interpretation. This study addresses several academic problems. First, how is Nasaruddin Umar's thought constructed regarding the importance of gender as a method of interpretation? Second, what is the model of the gender approach in the study of Qur'anic interpretation, particularly in relation to Nasaruddin Umar's ideas? Third, this study seeks to reveal the implications of gender for interpretation in the Contemporary Era, which constitutes the researcher’s finding and the study's academic novelty. More specifically, this study employs a literature review based on library research, analyzing relevant references aligned with the study's main theme. The findings indicate that, from Nasaruddin Umar’s perspective, gender plays an important role in implementing a more just and equal interpretation. Nasaruddin Umar emphasizes the importance of understanding the esoteric dimension within interpretive perspectives as a strategy for achieving gender-equal interpretation and rejecting discriminatory interpretations. Its implication in the Contemporary Era is that gender serves as the only contextual interpretation method that can provide respect for women, so that they are not influenced by patriarchal culture and the ideology of the mufassir in the interpretation. Abstrak Tulisan ini mendiskusikan tentang Nasaruddin Umar yang memiliki kontribusi besar terutama gagasan terhadap gender sekaligus menawarkan gender sebagai metode interpretasi kontekstual dalam penafsiran al-Qur’an di Era Kontemporer. Penelitian terhadap gender belakangan ini sudah banyak peneliti temukan, namun demikian, tulisan ini lebih menyoroti bagaimana urgensi gender sehingga dijadikan sebagai metode interpretasi kontekstual dalam pemikiran tafsir Nasaruddin Umar. Fokus penelitian ini membahas beberapa problem akademik diantaranya, Pertama, Bagaimana kontruksi dari pemikiran Nasaruddin Umar terkait pentingnya gender sebagai metode tafsir? Kedua, Bagaimana model pendekatan gender dalam kajian tafsir al-Qur’an terlebih gagasan terhadap Nasaruddin Umar? Ketiga, Penelitian ini akan mengungkapkan bagaimana implikasi gender dan pengaruhnya terhadap tafsir di Era Kontemporer, karena hal tersebut sebagai penemuan peneliti dan kebaharuan akademik dalam penelitian tersebut. Lebih spesifik, penelitian ini menggunakan studi literature review dengan berbasis pustaka dengan menganalisis berbagai referensi yang relevan sesuai dengan tema pokok pembahasan dalam penelitian ini. Temuan peneliti bahwa, gender dalam kacamata Nasaruddin Umar sebagai peran penting untuk mengimplementasikan penafsiran yang lebih adil dan setara. Nasaruddin Umar lebih menekankan pentingnya memahami dimensi esoterisme dalam wawasan penafsiran sebagai strategi untuk mencapai penafsiran berbasis kesetaraan gender dan menolak interpretasi yang diskriminatif. Implikasinya di era kontemporer yaitu gender sebagai jalan satu-satunya metode interpretasi kontekstual untuk memberikan penghormatan bagi kaum perempuan, agar tidak terkontaminasi budaya patriarkhi dan ideologi mufassir dalam penafsiran tersebut.
