<![CDATA[Cultural archives are information sources of historical, cultural, educational, and research value that must be managed systematically to prevent loss, damage, or destruction. This study aims to examine the concepts, processes, benefits, and challenges of acquisition and appraisal of cultural archives within the framework of national archival management. The method used is a literature study, analyzing various relevant sources, regulations, and archival guidelines. The results show that acquisition functions as a process of rescuing archives from individuals, families, communities, and institutions, while appraisal functions to determine the archival value through the assessment of administrative, legal, historical, cultural, scientific, and informational value. Both processes are carried out through the stages of identification, selection, acquisition, appraisal, status determination, storage, and preservation. Acquisition and appraisal have proven beneficial in rescuing archives, preserving national cultural identity, supporting research and education, and public information services, although challenges remain in the form of low public awareness, limited archivists, budget, and facilities. Synergy between the government, archival institutions, universities, and the community is needed to achieve sustainable preservation of cultural archives.]]>
