Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) is one of the common complications experienced by patients after undergoing surgery under general anesthesia. This condition may cause discomfort, delay the recovery process, and increase the risk of postoperative complications if not managed appropriately. Therefore, effective and easily applicable management strategies are required, one of which is non-pharmacological complementary therapy using ginger aromatherapy. This Community Service Program aimed to improve patients’ knowledge regarding PONV and to implement ginger aromatherapy as an intervention to reduce nausea and vomiting in postoperative patients undergoing general anesthesia. The activities included health education using leaflets and the implementation of ginger aromatherapy through an inhalation technique using a diffuser for 15 minutes. A total of 30 participants were involved in this program. The assessment results showed that before the intervention, most participants experienced moderate PONV, comprising 27 participants (90%), while 3 participants (10%) experienced mild PONV. After the administration of ginger aromatherapy, the severity of PONV decreased, with 29 participants (96.7%) categorized as having mild PONV and 1 participant (3.3%) categorized as having moderate PONV. No participants were classified as having severe or very severe PONV after the intervention. In addition, participants’ knowledge improved following the educational intervention. Before education, 28 participants (93.3%) had poor knowledge, whereas after education, 21 participants (70%) demonstrated good knowledge. These findings indicate that health education can improve participants’ knowledge and that the implementation of ginger aromatherapy may help reduce the severity of PONV and improve patient comfort during the postoperative recovery period. This program is expected to provide a practical and easily applicable complementary therapy option in anesthesia nursing care.
