This study aims to 1) identify leadership values in Hikayat Hang Tuah I using Northouse’s leadership theory and 2) analyze their relevance to 21st-century character education. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. The data consisted of words or excerpts, with the primary source being Hikayat Hang Tuah I by Bot Genoot Schap. This is a library-based study supported by textual references, including books, journals, and other relevant materials. Data collection was conducted using the "read-and-note" technique. The findings reveal that the hikayat embodies leadership values such as loyalty, wisdom, courage, intelligence, the ability to engage in deliberation, adaptability, solidarity, composure in facing challenges, and a commitment to the welfare of the people. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the leadership values found in Hikayat Hang Tuah I remain relevant for supporting 21st-century character education, as they align with the development of competencies such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity and the cultivation of character defined by integrity and responsibility.
