This study aims to: 1) identify farmer characteristics; 2) determine banana cultivation practices; 3) assess the level of perception; and 4) determine the level of farmer motivation regarding banana cultivation in Penungkulan Village, Gebang District, Purworejo Regency. The study employed a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach. The research location was selected via purposive sampling, while respondents were chosen using a saturated sampling technique, resulting in a total of 31 banana farmers. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using descriptive analysis and Likert scaling. The results indicate that the majority of respondents were of productive age (84%), had an elementary school education (65%), attended agricultural extension sessions 2–3 times per year (74%), possessed over 10 years of cultivation experience (91%), cultivated land areas of less than 0.5 hectares (97%), and maintained more than 51 banana plants (52%). Farmers perceived banana cultivation as easy, and their perceptions fell into the "neutral-to-good" category, with an average score of 31.84. Farmers' motivation levels fell into the high category with an average score of 31.81.
