<![CDATA[This research aims to reveal the psychological condition of the characters in the short story Behind the Iron Bars by Adinda Destiana Aisyah through the analytical psychology approach of Carl Gustav Jung. The main aspect examined in this study is to answer the question: What kind of processes do personal unconscious and shadow shape Alena's personality, extreme behavior, and inner conflict, and how does narrative symbolism reflect her psychological distress and traumatic experiences? The approach used in this study is qualitative descriptive with text analysis techniques, identifying manifestations of personal unawareness, shadow, collective unawareness, and archetypes such as persona, anima-animus, and self in character behavior. The results showed that Alena's persona built an image of being quiet and obedient, while shadows emerged through aggressive impulses and extreme actions as a result of a traumatic experience that was suppressed. The personal and collective unconscious is reflected through the symbolism of the prison room, the rain, and the interaction with other inmates, which reveal the tension between internal pressures and social norms. This short story not only depicts the trauma and inner conflict of individuals, but also shows the psychological complexity of the characters through shadow manifestations and hidden emotional dynamics. This study offers a new perspective in the analysis of contemporary Indonesian literature using Jung's psychoanalysis, particularly in the context of trauma and destructive behavior.]]>
