<![CDATA[ The handling of goods is an important part of warehouse operations because each activity is interconnected in supporting the movement of goods from receiving to delivery to customers. This study aims to analyze the goods handling process, identify operational barriers, and analyze the factors causing these barriers and their impacts on the smoothness of warehouse operations at PT MS. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving parties directly engaged in warehouse operations. Data analysis was conducted by identifying operational barriers, waste based on the Lean Warehousing concept, and the 5 Why analysis to identify the root causes of operational barriers. The results showed that the goods handling process consists of five main stages: receiving, storage, converting, picking, and shipping, which are interconnected. The most dominant barrier was found in the converting area, particularly in the slitting and sheeting processes, where work queues occurred when the workload increased. This condition indicated a bottleneck caused by an imbalance between the workload and available process capacity. The study also identified waste in the forms of waiting and unnecessary movement, as well as delays in data updating that resulted in manual checking. These barriers increased waiting time, delayed picking and shipping activities, and reduced the smoothness of goods flow. The findings imply the need to improve storage layout, converting capacity management, data updating accuracy, and coordination among related departments to improve warehouse operational effectiveness.]]>
