Divorce does not merely terminate the marital relationship between husband and wife but may also create problems in fulfilling children’s rights and development when parental responsibilities are not continuously maintained. This study aims to analyze the nature, scope, and distribution of parental responsibilities toward children after divorce from a Qur’anic perspective through a thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhu’i) of QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 233 and QS. At-Talaq [65]: 6–7. This study employs a qualitative approach based on library research. Primary data consist of Qur’anic verses and authoritative classical and modern exegetical works, while secondary data are derived from relevant literature on Islamic family law and child protection. The data are analyzed textually, contextually, comparatively, and thematically. The findings demonstrate that divorce does not eliminate parental responsibilities toward children. Mothers play an important role in breastfeeding and caregiving, while fathers are responsible for providing financial support according to their capacity. These responsibilities are governed by the principles of ma‘rūf, tarāḍin, tashāwur, proportionality, and the prohibition of mutual harm. The study emphasizes the relevance of Qur’an-based co-parenting ethics for ensuring the protection and well-being of children after divorce
