Abstract

There is growing pressure in the manufacturing sector to address operational efficiency alongside environmental and worker well-being. However, major existing sustainability assessment methods have notable flaws: most evaluate ergonomic, environmental, and operational performance separately. This approach cannot identify cross-dimensional performance gaps, nor can it support integrated operational decision-making. To address this issue, this study proposes an integrated Ergonomic-Green-Lean (EGL) manufacturing performance assessment framework for the coffee agroindustry. The method uses the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) to determine indicator weights under uncertain expert judgment, and a Traffic Light System (TLS) for performance level classification. The calculated weights for the three dimensions are 0.36 for ergonomics, 0.34 for lean practices, and 0.30 for green practices. However, ergonomics made the lowest actual contribution to performance. The overall EGL performance index reached 67.7%, which falls in the medium range. The core finding is that there is a clear mismatch between the strategic importance of human factors in this production system and their actual performance. The proposed EGL framework links indicator importance with realized operational performance, enabling the identification of importance–performance mismatches and supporting more coordinated improvement priorities.
