Abstract

This article attempts to schedule flow shop production using Nawaz Enscore Ham (NEH) to schedule jobs machining. The objective of this paper is to minimize total makespan which could reduce total production costs. This paper is based on the case study where NEH is applied in scheduling jobs in machines and then compared with the existing machine’s scheduling. The algorithm of NEH is also used to reduce idle time of machines so that the utility or performances of the machine are maintained.  The results of NEH simulation indicate that by applying NEH algorithm to scheduling machines for 10 jobs and 5 machines can reduce 2.5 per cent or 118 minutes of completing time of jobs. It also decreases total idle time of machines about 582 minutes compared with the existing scheduling.

Abstract

This paper explains the problem of determining the lot size of ordering raw materials with warehouse capacity limitation in order to minimize inventory costs. Generally, the lot size of ordering raw materials determined without considering warehouse capacity. The algorithm that used is Wagner Within (WW) which is modified by adding a warehouse capacity as a constraint. The result shows the minimum of total inventory cost is 24,100 and the ordering raw materials at the week 3, 5 and 7.

Abstract

This study discusses lean manufacturing concept to identify waste in Key Set Clarinet production process at Yamaha Musical Products Indonesia, Ltd. The lean manufacturing concept is done intially by big picture mapping, waste assessment model (WAM), value stream mapping (VSM) and cause and effect diagram respectively. The results show that the dominant waste is defect (26.04%), motion (19.34%), inventory (19.22%), and waiting (13.91%).

Abstract

Hybrid flow shop scheduling is one topic that is often reviewed by researchers at this time. Hybrid flow shop scheduling is the development of problems from pure flow shop. Flow shop problems have one machine at each stage. In this problem, each stage of operation has a machine that is arranged in parallel. This article aims to discuss the issue of hybrid flow shop scheduling at three stage to minimize makespan. Some previous studies discussed scheduling problems by considering setup time. However, such research is generally for the problem of pure flow shop. Therefore, a new algorithm is proposed to solve the problem. The proposed algorithm is developed from the Pour heuristic algorithm. Several experiments were conducted to determine the performance of the proposed algorithm. This study uses ten numerical experiments. This experiment uses the number of jobs varying from 5 jobs to 50 jobs. The results of numerical experiments show that the proposed algorithm has better performance compared to some other algorithms. The proposed method produces an effective solution if it is used to solve problems with a large number of jobs..

Abstract

UD Manis is a rice distributor in Lamongan. The problem faced by UD Manis is having no information system for notifying stock in warehouse and customer order although company has used MS Access database. Company requires information system for notifying stock and integrating across department. There are 3 major steps in module sales in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) which are data collection, process planning and testing, & evaluation. The result of ERP system design particularly for module sales by using software package ?Adempiere? has process sequence as sales order, shipment, invoice, and payment. Testing result of ERP system design using Adempiere shows that warehouse and sales department could check actual stock in warehouse more agile and accurate.

Abstract

Production scheduling is an important activity in manufacturing. Optimal scheduling affects the time of completion of the work. PT. Interpack is a company that produces packaging machines. The job schedule of the product spare part still uses the random priority rules. Use of random rules makes a lot of time delay. Delay causes operator and machine idle. Delay also causes the total time of completion of the work (makespan) and delay the greater.  So it needs to be rescheduled to work on the spare part of product. Job scheduling using the Artificial Immune System (AIS) algorithm. AIS was developed by Farmer et al. The AIS algorithm refers to the human immune system. The stages of the AIS algorithm begin with random initialization, antibody representation and gene classification, clone breeding, selection of donor antibodies, germ-line construction, gene fragment redesign, and ending with diversification of antibodies. AIS algorithm scheduling resulted in a more optimal new schedule. AIS algorithm scheduling generates a future of 6483.91 minutes. Company scheduling generates makespan of 7059.99 minutes. AIS Schedule finishes algorithm 4 days of the due date. AIS algorithm schedule increase machine utility by 1%.

Abstract

The study investigated problems of determining the lot size by considering sustainability and capital constraints for purchasing raw materials and taxes. By using the Sustainable EOQ (SEOQ) models that considered environmental aspects, the researchers also evaluated the capital constraints. The proposed models were used to minimize total inventory costs. In this study, there was a practical numerical analysis and sensitivity analysis to help decision-makers and policies on inventory problems. Finally, the experimental results showed that the proposed models were effectively used to solve the problems.
