This study was motivated by the declining internalization of religious values, low discipline in worship practices, and weak self-control among students at MTs Darul Qur'an Wadda'wah Jayapura. Previous studies have examined art therapy and the integration of art into counseling; however, studies specifically developing an Islamic calligraphy-based counseling model to foster students' religious attitudes remain limited. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the implementation of a calligraphy-based counseling model in shaping students' religious attitudes. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings revealed that the calligraphy-based counseling model contributed positively to the development of students' religious attitudes through three main dimensions. First, the internalization of Qur'anic values, in which calligraphy helped students understand, internalize, and apply the messages of the Qur'an in their daily lives through writing and reflecting on selected verses. Second, spiritual awareness, whereby calligraphy provided meaningful experiences that fostered inner peace, strengthened students' closeness to Allah SWT, and increased their participation in religious activities. Third, religious self-regulation, as calligraphy activities cultivated patience, discipline, accuracy, responsibility, and emotional self-control through a writing process requiring concentration and perseverance. This study contributes to the enrichment of Islamic guidance and counseling scholarship through the utilization of spirituality-based art as an alternative approach to strengthening religious character in school settings.
