Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology today has brought significant convenience across various aspects of life, including the agricultural sector. One of the common problems still faced by farmers is the manual process of watering and fertilizing plants. This method is often inefficient due to time and labor constraints, and it carries the risk of plants receiving too little or too much water. To address this issue, this research designs an automatic plant watering system based on an Arduino microcontroller that operates autonomously according to soil moisture levels and environmental temperature. The system is equipped with a soil moisture sensor, a temperature and humidity sensor (DHT22), a soil pH sensor, and a Real Time Clock (RTC) module to schedule automatic fertilization. All components are controlled by Arduino and NodeMCU ESP8266, which are connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) network, allowing real-time monitoring of plant conditions through an Android application. The design results show that this device can water and fertilize plants accurately and efficiently without direct supervision. With this system, garden owners can easily manage and maintain their plants remotely while ensuring the balance of water and nutrient needs. This research is expected to serve as an initial step toward implementing smart technology in agriculture, particularly at Taman Buah Sidomakmur, Kendal.
