Traditional methods that have long been rooted in Islamic educational traditions need to be contextualized within contemporary Islamic education (PAI) to address students’ needs and the demands of the modern era. This study aims to examine innovative approaches to adapting traditional methods for implementation in contemporary PAI learning. Using a qualitative library research design, the study analyzes relevant literature, including books, academic journals, and research articles related to the innovation of traditional teaching methods. The findings reveal that traditional methods such as lecturing, memorization, storytelling, and discussion remain relevant as foundational approaches for conveying religious knowledge and preserving the legacy of Islamic education since the time of the Prophet Muhammad Saw.. However, these methods should be adaptively and integratively combined with modern, technology based approaches to enhance student engagement, foster critical thinking skills, and create more meaningful and memorable learning experiences in contemporary PAI instruction.
