<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze how the community of Benteng Malewang Village utilizes pawnshop services to gain access to financial services and their impact on community welfare. The research focuses on the use of gold pawn services as an alternative financing instrument, both to meet consumptive needs and as productive business capital. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants in this study consist of customers and employees of Islamic Pawnshops (Pegadaian Syariah) who are directly involved in gold pawn practices. The results of the study indicate that the community of Benteng Malewang Village utilizes pawnshop services as an easily accessible means of obtaining financial access, particularly for lower- and middle-income groups, due to simple requirements, fast disbursement processes, and the use of gold as collateral, which is commonly owned by the community. Gold pawning is not only used to meet urgent needs but is also utilized productively as business capital. Furthermore, the impact of gold pawning on the welfare of the Benteng Malewang Village community in Bulukumba Regency includes increased income and improved household welfare. In addition, gold pawning functions as a financial safety mechanism in coping with emergency situations. Nevertheless, the study also identifies challenges in the implementation of gold pawn services, particularly delays in repayment or redemption, which are generally caused by economic and social factors such as declining income and competing household priorities.
