Abstract

Skin health is influenced by the balance of oil, water content, and hydration, which play important roles in maintaining the skin barrier function. This community service activity aimed to evaluate skin condition through measurements of skin oil, water content, and hydration as part of health education and early detection of skin problems. A total of 155 participants were involved, consisting mainly of adults and older individuals, with female participants predominating. The examination results showed mean values of 12.96 ± 7.52% for water content, 55.49 ± 7.38% for hydration, and 22.64 ± 3.13% for oil level. Based on gender, females demonstrated slightly higher mean oil and water levels than males, while males showed slightly higher skin hydration levels. These variations indicate that biological, hormonal, environmental, aging, and lifestyle factors influence skin condition in the community. Balanced skin oil and hydration are essential for maintaining skin elasticity, protective function, and prevention of dryness-related or inflammatory skin disorders. Community-based skin examinations combined with health education may improve public awareness regarding the importance of adequate hydration and proper skin care in maintaining optimal skin health.
