Monosaccharide carbohydrates such as glucose, fructose, and galactose are simple sugars found in various foods that serve as vital energy sources for the body. However, a lack of understanding regarding the types, sources, and consequences of excessive monosaccharide consumption can influence public consumption habits. As food providers, traditional market vendors play a crucial role in disseminating accurate information to consumers. This activity aimed to assess vendors' knowledge regarding monosaccharide types, food sources, the effects of excessive consumption, and the importance of understanding the sugar content of the foods they sell. The methodology involved an educational outreach session combined with a questionnaire for data collection. The activity was conducted through direct engagement with vendors, utilizing educational materials such as leaflets and posters to facilitate information delivery. The results indicated that the vendors' knowledge level fell into the moderate category. While respondents demonstrated a good understanding of the health impacts of excessive sugar consumption and sources of fructose, their knowledge regarding sources of galactose and the importance of knowing the sugar content of their products remained low. Based on these findings, it is concluded that targeted and sustained education is necessary to enhance vendors' knowledge of monosaccharide carbohydrates. Such knowledge improvement is expected to support vendors in acting not merely as sellers but also as agents of nutrition education, thereby encouraging healthier consumption patterns among the public.
