This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in enhancing students’ ability to write observational texts. The study employed an experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students at MTs Daar Al Muhsinin Mekar Laras, totaling 40 students, divided into an experimental group and a control group. The sample was selected using simple random sampling. The instrument used was an essay test to assess students’ observational text writing ability. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and t-test analyses. The results revealed that the mean score of the experimental group was 87, while that of the control group was 73. The hypothesis testing indicated that the calculated t value was higher than the critical t value, showing a significant effect of the CTL model on students’ writing ability. Therefore, the CTL model is effective in improving students’ observational text writing skills.
