<![CDATA[This study describes the translation strategies used to translate Unit Specialized Meaning (USM) in Wondershare’s End User License Agreement (EULA) and the procedures to resolve translation problems from English into Indonesian. EULAs are complex legal documents that are translated to remain legally valid and communicatively clear across different countries and legal systems. Based on translation theory and legal translation studies, the research recognizes the USM situated in Wondershare’s EULA. It examines the strategies employed in translating these USM, including naturalization, literal translation, functional and cultural equivalence, and official translation. The results suggested that while figurative and formal translation is feasible, literal and official translation are frequently possible because of the consistency of nomenclature in legal institutions. In addition, functional and cultural equivalence is a key to attaining contextual fidelity where direct equivalence does not exist. The paper highlights the imperative of maintaining legal precision while not neglecting the comprehensibility of translated EULA, particularly when users navigate across multilingual digital markets. It is hoped that the present study, which is a novel interpretation of USM, can add to the field of legal translation by offering context-sensitive translation strategies for USM in global legal communication.]]>
