This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the peer teaching approach in improving learning outcomes and to identify students’ responses in the Basic Principles of Visual Communication Design (DDKV) subject at SMKN 1 Masjid Raya. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed. The participants were 24 tenth-grade Multimedia students in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through a pre-test, post-test, and a student response questionnaire. Learning outcomes were analyzed by comparing students’ achievement before and after the learning intervention, while questionnaire data were analyzed using response percentages across the measured aspects. The results showed that the students’ mean score increased from 86.67 in the pre-test to 97.50 in the post-test. The number of students who did not meet the minimum competency criterion decreased from three to one. Overall, students’ responses to the peer teaching approach reached 97.64%, categorized as “very interested.” The highest response was recorded for the influence of the approach on material comprehension, reaching 100%. The findings indicate that peer teaching can serve as an alternative approach for DDKV learning by supporting student interaction and material comprehension. However, the study was limited to 24 students and did not include a control group; therefore, the observed improvement cannot be attributed entirely to peer teaching. Future research should involve larger samples, control groups, and different learning materials or vocational competencies.
