<![CDATA[This study aims to: (1) Describe the development of the palm sugar industry in Panaikang Village, Jeneponto Regency during the period 2010-2024; (2) Explain the impact of the palm sugar industry on the social history of the community in Panaikang Village, Jeneponto Regency. This research applies the historical research method, which consists of four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with palm sugar craftsmen, the village head, and local residents, as well as literature review and documentation. The research was conducted in Panaikang Village, Binamu District, Jeneponto Regency. The findings reveal that: (1) The palm sugar industry in Panaikang Village developed through three distinct phases. The early phase (2010-2012) was initiated by Pak Jamaluddin, who utilized his own sugar palm trees primarily for family consumption before gradually selling the product. The golden phase (2013-2019) was marked by an increase in the number of craftsmen to six people, production growth from 30 to 80 units per week, market expansion to outside the village, and a significant rise in community income. The decline phase (2020-2024) occurred due to the death of several craftsmen, price instability, adverse weather conditions, limited raw materials, and a lack of generational renewal, resulting in a decrease in craftsmen from five to three people; (2) The palm sugar industry has had a tangible social impact on the Panaikang Village community, including improved family income and welfare, the creation of new employment opportunities, changes in the social structure, and a shift in the younger generation’s perspectives on education and career choices.]]>
