Nurses' job satisfaction is an important aspect of healthcare services because it influences the quality of care provided to patients. The high work demands faced by nurses make work stress one of the factors that is assumed to affect job satisfaction. However, the effect of work stress on nurses' job satisfaction in hospitals in Surabaya City still requires further investigation. This study aimed to analyze the effect of work stress on nurses' job satisfaction in hospitals in Surabaya City. This study employed a quantitative approach using a purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 83 nurses working in hospitals in Surabaya City. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. The results showed that work stress had a positive and significant effect on nurses' job satisfaction. The findings indicate that work pressure at a manageable level can encourage nurses to perform their duties optimally, thereby increasing their job satisfaction. Therefore, hospitals need to pay attention to work stress management and create a supportive work environment to ensure that work pressure remains at a productive level, thereby improving nurses' job satisfaction and the quality of healthcare services.
