This study aims to describe teachers’ strategies for fostering environmental care character in young children through Project-Based Learning (PjBL) at TK ABA Nyai Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta. The study uses Thomas Lickona’s character education theory, which includes moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action, as a framework for analysing children’s environmental care character. This qualitative study employed a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the headteacher and class teachers. Data were analysed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that teachers use habituation, role modelling, and guidance through activities such as planting and caring for plants, SEMUTLIS (Ten Minutes for the School Environment), and reusing materials in project activities. Children demonstrated environmental care through maintaining cleanliness, disposing of waste properly, caring for plants, reusing materials, and taking responsibility for the school environment. These findings indicate that PjBL supported by teachers’ strategies can foster environmental care character in young children.
