This study aims to describe the use of digital maps as a learning medium for local history, particularly the War of Independence in Padang City, among students of Culinary Arts Class 4 (XI Kuliner 4) at SMK Negeri 9 Padang. The study employs a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The research informants consisted of a history teacher and students selected according to the study requirements. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that digital maps facilitate more interactive, contextual, and engaging history learning by presenting spatial information about historical sites in Padang City. This medium helps students understand the relationship between historical events and geographical conditions, increases learning interest, and encourages active student engagement throughout the learning process. Digital maps also enable teachers to connect local history materials with students’ surrounding environment, making learning more meaningful. Furthermore, the use of digital maps supports students in recognizing the historical and geographical significance of their local area through concrete visual information. Therefore, digital maps serve as an innovative learning medium that supports local history education, strengthens contextual understanding, encourages active participation, and provides students with a systematic and relevant learning experience in schools.
