Instagram account @infosumbar reporting practices in covering hydro-meteorological disasters in West Sumatra in 2025. The background of the study departs from the increasing role of citizen journalism-based social media as the main source of information for the community during crisis situations, especially when major floods hit Padang city due to Tropical Cyclone Senyar in November 2025. The research uses a qualitative approach with Case Study and phenomenology methods. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and documentation of 12 informants consisting of admins, contributors, and active followers of @infosumbar, during the period November 2025 to April 2026. The results showed that @infosumbar implemented a multi-layered gatekeeping and fact-checking mechanism based on priority scale and strict visual standards. In addition, this account successfully facilitates two-way citizen journalism that encourages active citizen participation as field sensors. The conclusion of the study shows that @infosumbar doubles as a digital gatekeeper and facilitator of effective citizen journalism in the local crisis information ecosystem in West Sumatra.
