Teaching poetry writing at the junior high school level still faces several challenges, especially in improving students’ engagement, creativity, and ability to write poems in a structured manner. This study aims to describe the implementation of genre pedagogy-based poetry writing instruction using the CapCut application for eighth-grade students at State Junior High School 1 Bengkulu City. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The study was conducted in September 2025 in class VIII.2 at State Junior High School 1 Bengkulu City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results showed that the implementation of genre pedagogy-based instruction using CapCut was carried out through four main stages, namely building the context, modelling the text, joint construction of the text, and independent construction of the text. The building context stage was conducted by introducing the learning objectives and the topic of the poem. The modelling stage was carried out by presenting sample poems as materials for students to observe the structure and poetic elements. The joint construction stage involved collaborative poetry writing activities guided by the teacher. The independent construction stage provided opportunities for students to write poems individually and transform their works into poetry videos using the CapCut application. Overall, most students were able to produce good poems and showed high involvement in each learning stage. Students also successfully integrated visual and audio elements into their poetry through CapCut. However, several students still experienced difficulties in mastering poetry writing techniques and using the CapCut application, indicating the need for more intensive guidance in certain stages.
