This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the recruitment and employee selection process at UD. Karya Mukti Tulungagung as a representation of creative industry MSMEs. Recruitment and employee selection are strategic foundations in human resource management, particularly for MSMEs that face limitations in organizational resources. This study employed a qualitative approach with a single case study design. Data were collected through direct interviews and observations of the research object. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by comparing the field findings with the fundamental concepts of human resource management. The results of the study indicate that the recruitment and selection process at UD. Karya Mukti remains informal, lacks clear standard operating procedures, and relies heavily on social networks and the subjective judgment of the business owner. These conditions have caused the effectiveness of recruitment and selection processes to be less than optimal in obtaining employees who meet the company’s needs. This study is expected to provide contextual and applicable recommendations for improving human resource management practices in MSMEs, particularly in the recruitment and employee selection process.
