This study aimed to investigate publication patterns, research gaps, and emerging themes in Islamic finance by conducting a comparative bibliometric analysis of scholarly articles from Malaysia and Indonesia. Using data retrieved from the Scopus database, the study applied the PRISMA protocol for manuscript selection as well as bibliometric tools, including Publish or Perish, VOSviewer, Biblioshiny, and Microsoft Excel, for analysis. The results showed Malaysia led in both the volume and impact of Islamic finance publications, reflecting a more established research infrastructure, while Indonesia had a consistent upward trend in publication output. The analysis further identified sustainability, fintech, and digital transformation as prominent and emerging research themes in both countries. By mapping publication performance and thematic development, the study provided empirical insights into the comparative research dynamics of Islamic finance in Malaysia and Indonesia and highlighted directions for future scholarly development.
